101st British Chess Championship
The 101st British Chess Championship was held at Aberystwyth University in Wales over the two weeks from 19th July and the overall British Title was jointly won by GM David Howell (Britain’s youngest GM) and IM Jonathan Hawkins with a score of 8.5 out of 11. Congratulations also to our very own GMs Chris Ward and John Emms who competed well, John finishing a fantastic joint 3rd and Chris winning the best game prize.
It was
good to see so many Kent Juniors out in force, many playing in their very first
British Championships, pitting their wits against some of the best players from
across the country.

Also well done to a few of our seniors who were present: Anil Anilkumar and not long from being a junior, Conrad Allison.
