William Jones and Callum Kilpatrick competing in the World Juniors in Greece....

Best of luck to William Jones and Callum Kilpatrick (two of our Kent Juniors from the not too distant past) who are both currently playing at the World Junior Chess Championships in Athens, Greece. They are part of a strong England contingent looking to gain valuable experience.

This is one of the toughest junior tournaments in the world with every competitor (no matter their age) playing in the same group. There are many of the World's top junior GMs and IMs playing there, at the beautiful Titiana Hotel. You can follow William's and Callum's progress on this link:

Two Juniors from Kent Crowned British Junior Chess Champions 2012!

A very big well done to Arul Gupta and Jessica Wen, our new British Champions!

Arul clinched the British U11 Junior Chess title in some style. It was a very close final round against fellow Kent team mate Girinath Haridas and after a close battle, Arul emerged victorious. Girinath took an excellent second place in a very tough group.

Jessica Wen took the British Junior Girl's title in a very strong U14 section. She fought valiantly against tough opposition to clinch the title.

Congratulations to all our children who traveled all the way to North Shields to participate in the British Chess Championships this year. Everyone played super chess and it was great to see that so many made the journey. Next year the British will be held in Torquay and we hope to see lots of our juniors playing and hopefully some more titles to add to our increasing tally.
