2008-9 Fixtures: Regional Qualifier – Saturday 20 March 2010 (Northampton); National Final – Saturday 8 May 2010 (Greater Manchester).

Qualification Criteria: Membership of the National Chess Junior Squad (NCJS) OR qualification for the England Under 11 Trial. In the absence of either of these, A) 2 half Kent norms (HKN) OR 1 full Kent norm (FKN) in KJCA Grand Prix tournaments or in England Under 11 Trial qualifying tournaments AND B) attendance on 2 coaching days (CD) of an open KJCA coaching course (or ECF equivalent, not online) in the 2009-10 season OR a pass (not online) at Gold level.
A HKN will be awarded for a 58% score in an Under 12 section or above OR 1.5 points above a 50% score in an Under 11 section OR 2 points above a 50% score in an Under 10 section OR 2.5 points above 50% in an Under 9 section or below. These criteria apply to KJCA GP tournaments and designated Minor sections of Trial qualifying tournaments; the criteria for other sections of Trial qualifying tournaments are 1 point below these or above. A FKN will be awarded for scoring 1 point above the HKN levels. Byes will be excluded.

Team Selection Criteria: If 24 players or more achieve the above qualification criteria, the team will be selected exclusively from those qualified. The only exception to this is where a player is unable to achieve the qualification criteria SOLELY because of absence for medical reasons or through attending his/her first ever KJCA event too late to manage this in which case the player may exceptionally be added to the Squad subject to ratification by senior KJCA personnel. If less than 24 players achieve the above qualification criteria, the Team Managers may complete the team from partially qualified or unqualified players after selecting all those who are fully qualified.
