Well done to everyone who played, from experienced county players to those at their first chess tournament. We hope you all enjoyed both some great chess games and spending time with your friends. We look forward to welcome you to more of our tournaments and training days throughout the season.

At this tournament, we trialled the introduction of different sections for the older children –  an U18 Minor and an U18 Major with a grade qualifier.  From the initial feedback, this seems to have been a positive move and worked well to allow all those in these sections to enjoy some good games of chess. Please do get in touch if you have any further feedback on this change. The plan is to continue with these new sections going forward, however we need to be certain that our young chess players are happy and that the changes work smoothly with the KJCA website and the GP tables.

Extra thanks to Anand Verma and Tarun Nayak who have worked hard to make these changes  compatible with the KJCA website, prepare tournament director and re-load the new crosstabs onto the website.

There are lots of jobs involved with running a junior chess tournament. Thanks also go to everyone involved including:  Kath Baron for bringing along the equipment and setting up on the day, John Merriman, Kryz Jamroz  for arbiting, Emma Holmes for organising the catering, Gary Dorman for registration and prizegiving, and ALL other parents and carers who helped with the catering stall on the day.

If anyone else is interested in helping at our tournaments or behind the scenes, please do get in touch. We are currently keen for some additional help with catering supplies and bringing to the venue. Please contact us via webmaster@kjca.org or directly to Jo Wildman, current chair of the committee, on jowildman@hotmail.com or 07583337307.

Finally, thanks to Cornwallis Academy. It is a great venue as the rooms and space are ideal for a chess tournaments and special mention to the caretaker for his help on the day.
